Party hosting hacks for the holidays and beyond

first_img Mama Mia Reply I also learned that underwater cables under the oceans is how we sent a lot of communications such as emails. That really surprised me, as I thought it was all through satellites up above. Florida gas prices jump 12 cents; most expensive since 2014 Mama Mia Wow….Julie Chen without makeup….scary! Please enter your comment! I am reading one of the news tiles on my computer that was from the Washington Post….one of the top generals over the Marines has told 300 Marines in Norway to “get ready and prepare for war” as he tells them it is coming! Then later, he said, “it was to just motivate them”. I don’t know, but it sounds like more than a motivation tactic to me! He told the US Marines that have been there in Norway since Jan. that there numbers could swell from 300 to 3000 troops…..doesn’t sound like a motivation tactic to me. He also discussed that we don’t know who the adversary will be, but discussed Iran, North Korea, China, and Russia and discussed the Pacific. Kim Jong Un has also announced that the US actions with the UN sanctions is “an act of war”….doesn’t sound peaceful to me with the start of the new year coming! And also Rex Tillerson has spilled some beans about things he was even supposed to be talking about regarding basically war plans to take out Kim Jong Un….man, I wish we had different leaders leading our country! Hey, I just saw John Dreji, the former engineer of the COA, that now works for Seminole County government, on tv, Channel 9, and he was speaking about the Sun Rail and that was the subject, and I couldn’t understand John before, and still can’t understand John’s talk, so there you go! lol Please enter your name here TAGSChristmasholidayParty Previous articleAre we stewards of the earth’s natural wonders?Next articlePuerto Ricans aren’t giving up on Christmas Denise Connell RELATED ARTICLESMORE FROM AUTHOR Mama Mia Reply Reply December 24, 2017 at 8:47 pm Mama Mia Reply December 25, 2017 at 12:57 pm Ummm…try torching your cocktail early on, before you do some other hardcore serious drinking, or otherwise you might end up torching your tail, instead of your cocktail….ha ha ha…LOL Reply Reply December 25, 2017 at 2:42 pm Reply December 25, 2017 at 1:27 pm December 25, 2017 at 1:12 pm Mama Mia December 24, 2017 at 8:36 pm Share on Facebook Tweet on Twitter December 25, 2017 at 1:34 pm About half way through our Christmas Day Dinner I thought, “Oh, I’ve got two different sets of nice Christmas dinnerware, I should have gotten out to use. Darn. I told my husband, “Oh well, I forgot about them, I’ll get one set out and use for New Years Day Dinner”….LOL We don’t care if it is Christmas dinnerware! Heck, I ate my Christmas dinner in my nightgown! If the gals working at the Mason Jar Restaurant can serve their customers in their pajamas, then darn, I can certainly have dinner in my nightgown, at our home. I thought it was weird when I saw the girl waitresses in their pajamas, and I thought, ” what in the world?” but then I overheard, it was “Pajama Day” the day we went there….LOL Mama Miacenter_img Great ideas for party cocktailsHosting friends and family in your home is fun any time of the year, including the holidays. However, with entertaining comes the stress of planning and the pressure to make each get-together more exciting than the last.Throwing a memorable party does not have to be overwhelming. With a few simple hosting hacks, you can impress your guests at every turn, from food and drinks, to decor and even parting gifts, creating an unforgettable experience for all.Smoke ’em with a signature cocktail.Having your own “signature” cocktail puts a personalized and festive stamp on any celebration. Dazzle your guests with a cool mixology trend and try torching a cocktail.Lighting a float is one cool technique to try. Once your cocktail is mixed, add a thin layer of a high-proof alcohol very slowly on top of the drink (tip – pour over the back of a spoon). The higher proof alcohol will float on top, then light it on fire to bring out more of the flavor. Mixologists recommend using a torch like the Bernzomatic ST2200T Detail Torch for this.Create your own beverage cart.Bring libations to guests by creating your own beverage cart. Not only does it keep guests from having to travel back and forth to the kitchen, it also adds a retro element to any party. Simply take an old (or new) office or craft cart on casters, spray paint it in a festive color and – Viola! – you have a portable beverage cart. Stock the cart with spirits, soft drinks, ice, cocktail napkins, garnishes and everything you need to achieve beverage service on-the-go.Wow with a custom centerpiece.A centerpiece can communicate the vibe of your celebration. Sure, you could go buy something pre-made, but creating your own centerpiece will add a personal (and impressive) touch to any table.Create your own copper pipe holiday centerpiece like this one from, made using a Bernzomatic TS4000 High Heat Torch. You’ll need about 3 feet of copper pipe, some copper corner elbows to join the pipe pieces, T-connectors, and basic equipment such as a tape measure, safety gloves and glasses, and a pipe cutter. Visit the website for a full list of materials and assembly instructions. The centerpiece is so versatile it can be used for any occasion.Prep and clean ahead of party time.Anything you can do before party day is one less thing you have to spend time on during the celebration. Many key party tasks – from appetizer prep to setting the table – can be done a day (or even two) before the party. Pre-mix the punch the night before, pre-make and refrigerate dishes and get your party music ready and queued up a day early. If you don’t have time to clean the entire house, focus on the areas where guests will be. Create a fresh, fragrant aroma that will permeate the house by simmering vanilla, lemon and rosemary in a pot of water on the stove.Leave a lasting impression with a parting gift.If you want to create something nice and simple for guests to leave with, you don’t have to stretch your mind or your bank account to give something unique. Check out the kitchen aisle in a home or super store and pick up a set of wooden kitchen serving utensils. Then, using the soldering tip of a Bernzomatic micro torch, engrave patterns and designs, or even personalize the names of your guests. Tie a ribbon to the handle and you’ve got an easy and practical gift.Whether you’re planning a holiday soiree, celebrating the New Year or hosting another special event throughout the year, a few smart hacks and the right tools will help create an event that is memorable, impressive and most importantly, fun. December 24, 2017 at 8:32 pm Mama Mia Reply Mama Mia Also saw a dreamer child, that was brought here as a child illegally by her parents, and now she is a young adult, and she lives here in Apopka, and on Channel 9 they showed the side of the city hall building when they were telling that she lives in Apopka. Her name, I cannot spell, but her name was pronounced…Al-A-Han-Dra…that was how it sounded, and I don’t know how to spell it, but she was upset, and has anxiety about possibly being forced to go back to a country, she does not even identify with or know. I felt very sorry for her, and those dreamers who are being put in this situation. If I had my way, the Dreamers could stay right here in this country! There are some cruel people that just don’t care about others! These kids that were brought here, years ago should be given a break. There parents were the lawbreakers, not the kids. I am not for giving every illegal free access, no way, but like I said, these kids were brought here years ago, as babies and young toddlers, or at a very young age. If they are staying out of trouble, and trying to do good, leave them alone, and don’t send them elsewhere to a country they don’t know! I would not trust Trump one bit, on what he tells them, or promises, as he cannot be trusted, and changes his mind on a dime, about all kinds of issues. Ain’t going to happen….Time to clean the whole house???? Ain’t going to happen either…LOL December 25, 2017 at 12:44 pm Reply Mama Mia LEAVE A REPLY Cancel reply UF/IFAS in Apopka will temporarily house District staff; saves almost $400,000 Reply December 25, 2017 at 12:49 pm We just finished Christmas Day Dinner. I already got cleaned up and the dishes washed. Wow, I re-read my above posting and I didn’t mean to say “the nobody coming to my house”…geesh, not at all, what I meant. What I meant was that I wasn’t going to the trouble of making a copper candelabra for anybody coming to my house….definitively not ” the nobody coming to my house”……that sounded awful, and I didn’t mean that! LOL Mama Mia It really is hard to be a diabetic and make it through Halloween time, Thanksgiving and then the holiday Christmas season on to New Year. Foods full of sugar everywhere, and every tempting wonderful smelling treats everywhere you look, on tv, in the magazines, newspapers, you name it. I was watching Clinton and Carla of the Chew and he melted chocolate, add some canola oil, dipped marshmello in that and then rolled it in crushed peppermint candy set on wax paper, and then let it set awhile, and then dropped one or two of those into hot cocoa drinks. Then of course Clinton had to add some alcohol to theirs they were trying…… December 25, 2017 at 2:48 pm 12 COMMENTS Wow, knock ’em out with your party plans….that pine cone sitting there on that dinnerware plate will wow ’em big time, if you add peanut butter and bird seed between those pine cone seeds, and if you happen to be entertaining a squirrelly squirrel or a cuckoo bird…LOL December 25, 2017 at 2:46 pm Then there is Rachael Ray. I wish she would pull her hair back in a ponytail or something, when she cooks! I don’t like her long hair swishing around while she cooks. That was never allowed at the jobs I used to work around food! And she cooks with satin blouses on and velvet tops….she needs to put on a white lab type coat, like the cake boss wears, or an apron! If that sounds old-fashioned, I am sorry, but she is cooking for other people! Gov.
