Women’s Basketball Celebrates 2017-18 Season; Hosts Annual One-on-One Event

first_imgThe one-on-one program allowed the faculty and the student-athletes to introduce each other to the crowd. The duos used fun, creative ways to present each other and give the audience a chance to get to know the student-athletes in a different way than what they see out on the basketball court. For the one-on-one, each student-athlete was paired with a Drake faculty or staff member and introduced to each other at a dinner prior to the event. The dinner gave each pair a chance to share personal information and stories before introducing one another at a short program for the public on the floor of the Knapp Center. DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women’s basketball program hosted its annual One-on-One event with Drake faculty and staff members and the public Tuesday, Oct. 16 evening at the Knapp Center. The annual event helps the program celebrate the upcoming basketball season! The Drake University Bulldog Club will host its annual Tipoff Breakfast for the upcoming Drake men’s and women’s basketball seasons on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 7 a.m. in the downtown Des Moines Marriott. The Bulldogs won their second-straight Missouri Valley Conference regular season and tournament titles with the program’s second-consecutive perfect 18-0 record in MVC action in the regular season followed by three wins at Hoops in the Heartland in Moline, Ill. The 2017-18 season was capped with the program’s 12th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Those administrators, staff members, coaches and student-athletes were honored for being integral parts in last season’s tremendous success. Prior to the program, the team hosted a dessert reception for the public on the upper concourse of the Knapp Center. After enjoying numerous delicious desserts from several, generous local businesses the action moved to the court for the program.last_img
