Thanks for pushing us for better CWG preparations: CM to media

first_imgThe media on Friday got a “thank you” from Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for keeping her government on its toes by criticising the preparations for the Commonwealth Games and thus “pushing it” to make the event a success.”I would thank media for pushing us to deliver. When the push came, we got encouragement to redouble our efforts,” Dikshit said addressing a function here. The Chief Minister, admitting some delays in some of the projects, however said the city will host the best-ever Commonwealth Games in history.”Two-three months back, people thought we will not be able to complete the projects and the event will not be successful. Today, I can confidently say that it will be the best in the history,” Dikshit said.Blaming the “unprecedented rains” for the delays, she said all the infrastructure projects will be completed well ahead of the commencement of the event on October 3.”Nobody had imagined that we will have such unprecedented rains this year,” she said.”Delhi will wear a different image after 10-12 days as all the projects will be completed,” she said also complimenting her Cabinet colleagues and top officials for their “hard work”.The Chief Minister rejected criticism about sub-standard quality of work and said highest standard of quality has been maintained in all the projects.PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chouhan said the Barapullah Nallah elevated road, linking Games Village with Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, will be inaugurated on September 19.Addressing the gathering, he said neither Lord Indra, the god of rains nor Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, a bitter critic of the Games, will succeed in not making the event a success.advertisementlast_img
